Zyrtec OTC® tablets and syrup are now available and will be covered at the $10 copayment level on the FCC formulary just like Claritin OTC® and Claritin-D OTC®. Zyrtec OTC® is an over-the-counter antihistamine that is available in the same strength as prescription only Zyrtec® (cetirizine). This allows you to get the same prescription strength medication at a fraction of the price. Currently, prescription only Zyrtec® is on the non-preferred 3 rd tier of the FCC formulary, which means a $40 to $50 out-of-pocket expense for you each month. By changing to Zyrtec OTC® and only paying a $10 copayment, you can save $30 to $40 per month.
Just because you are not currently taking Zyrtec® does not mean you can’t save money on your monthly medication costs.
If you are taking another non-preferred 3 rd tier antihistamine such as Clarinex® or Xyzal®, you may want to discuss
with your physician if Zyrtec OTC®, Claritin OTC® or Claritin-D OTC®are options for you.
By making the change, you too can save $30 to $40 per month on your medication costs.
In order for FCC to cover Zyrtec OTC®, Claritin® or Claritin-D®
at the $10 copayment level, you must have a prescription from your physician and have it filled at your pharmacy.
Please make sure the prescription is written for Zyrtec OTC®. If the prescription is just written for
“Zyrtec”, you will receive the prescription only Zyrtec® at the non-preferred 3rd tier copayment.
