FirstCarolinaCare Insurance Company Annual Report Focuses on Commitment to Service and Wins Top Honors

PINEHURST – The Corporate Communications department of FirstHealth of the Carolinas received a Gold Wallie Award at the 2008 Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society (CHPRMS) Wallie Awards ceremony. The award, presented in the annual report category, recognized the 2007 FirstCarolinaCare Insurance Company (FCC) annual report.

Titled “There is a face to health care coverage…and we like to show it,” the award-winning report covers annual accounts while focusing on FCC’s dedication to personal service by highlighting the company’s unique practice of face-to-face interaction with members and employers. In keeping with the theme, the report uses images of FCC employees, brokers and clients as the faces of health care coverage.

The FCC report was created by Greg Boykin of Greg Boykin Designs Inc., freelance writer Paul Daniel and Don McKenzie of McKenzie Photography.

The Wallie Awards are given annually at the CHPRMS fall conference and recognize excellence in health care public relations and marketing.  This year’s conference was held in Charleston, S.C. Members competed in more than a dozen categories, and winners were chosen by a panel of health care professionals.

Judging criteria for the Wallie Awards include statement of purpose, conceptual effectiveness, design and content, and measurement of results.

FirstHealth’s Corporate Communications department is responsible for all of the organization’s marketing, advertising, and public relations and media relations as well as the development of internal and external communications.

“Corporate Communications has been recognized many times over the years for the award-winning materials produced in the department,” says Leslie Deane, FirstHealth’s administrative director for Planning and Marketing.  “We are very proud of these awards, which recognize the quality work and talent of the entire staff.”
